Firebox Damage Can Lead to Bigger Hazards – Schedule Repairs With Us

There are lots of important parts to your chimney and fireplace system, but the firebox is where the main show happens. This is where the fire is built and the flames shine bright. But, as you can imagine, the walls of your firebox are exposed to some pretty high temps, and without proper care and maintenance, they can break down fast.

Common Firebox Issues

Firebox-related issues can lead to a lot of further damage throughout your system, eventually giving flames, heat, and smoke easy pathways to the rest of your home. Some of the most common issues we see are:

  • Damaged brick and mortar. The constant heating and cooling of your firebox can put a lot of wear on your masonry. If the brickwork inside of the firebox is starting to crumble or fall apart, then some brick replacement and tuckpointing services might be in order.
  • Damaged refractory panels. Fireboxes in prefabricated fireplaces come with refractory panels. Unfortunately, these sometimes crack or develop gaps. We can replace or repair them as necessary.
  • Improper construction. Sometimes parts of your fireplace aren’t built right from the get-go. Fireboxes need to be constructed from materials that are heat-resistant, due to their direct contact with flames. If this isn’t the case, parts will break down fast.

If you spot signs of damage, reach out to our team right away. We have the tools and experience to get your system back in tip-top shape, so it can run safer for the long haul.
